Removing the fuel tank is a tough job! I decided to make an access panel.
Some newer vehicles have an access panel. I cut the carpet in two places and rolled it back.
Drilled 3/8" holes in corners, cut with sabre saw, metal blade, 1/2 block to decrease penetration.
Here, the pump has been replaced and the corroding lines given 4 coats of clear krylon acrylic.
Added protection of plactic wrapped around lines, then more taped down to keep road salt off.
3/4" by 1/8" steel stock cut 3 inches long, to make reattachment straps.
Short sheet metal screws used in 6 places
1/2" plywood panel added. Full tube of adhesive caulk used on metal seams, and plywood-metal edge.
I put heavy stuff in here, and want it to be secure! When the carpet and trim was replaced it looked almost normal..
